My friend gave me this book a year and a day ago, for my birthday. It was very good!
It really gave me vibes of Shatter Me. Except Australian. And shorter. I still need to read Weapon, and luckily the copy of the book my friend gave me included both Whisper and Weapon! It’s a big book which luckily made it helpful when I spent hours trying to swat a fly last night. Don’t worry, I washed the fly guts off the book.
Ok. So I started this book thinking it was dystopian. It is, in fact, not. It’s more sci-fi, I would say, which is cool because I haven’t read many sci-fi books.
I do actually like most of the characters. And the plot. Like the supernatural elements of the book are kinda cool. They may remind me a little too much of Shatter Me to be considered unique, but they are still cool.
Also I liked the fact that the book is set in Australia. It makes things seem a lot more personal and it just makes sense more than books set in not-Australia would. To me. 🇦🇺
I do like the characters. But I smell a love triangle coming up. Yep. Another one. Not to say that I’ll hate it, because sometimes they’re not too bad. But still.
I still like how sassy some of the characters are. Sassy and sarcastic. I feel like sometimes the attitude that some of these characters have is the most entertaining part of some books.
I do kinda like the politics in this book. I mean, it’s not overly political but the ideas of the “good” and “bad” characters and groups in these books are interesting. It’s so weird but cool how in books like these, the reader and characters can so firmly believe that one organisation/person is in the right, only to find out they’re not and then hate them for the rest of the series.
Yeah, do I’m excited to see what happens in Weapon. The title suggests some interesting stuff. I feel kinda proud of how fast I read this hahaha.
