Believe Me - Book Review

This review contains spoilers for Believe Me and the rest of the Shatter Me series.
I missed these characters and this world so much. Aaahh.
Ok so this novella was so sweet! Like it was nice to see a happy ending of sorts, like the wedding!!
Also. Dog. Dog and Warner. I'm pretty sure one of the only things Tahereh Mafi confirmed about Believe Me (before its release) was that the dog would be in it. Warner is now officially a dog person. Welcome to the family, Aaron.
Honestly this novella was kinda bittersweet, especially at the start, because it was clear how traumatised everyone (especially Warner, the narrator) was from everything that happened in the series. I found that sad.
Ok so suddenly I have a mental blank. I was literally planning out what to say in this review.
I really feel like this book gave the end of the series a bit more closure than the end of Imagine Me? But it was also kinda weird because I'm not used to such happy endings. Honestly, and don't come at me for this, but I felt like Believe Me sorta reminded me of fanfiction? It just gave off those vibes. And by no means is that a bad thing! It's definitely not a bad thing. It made me smile.
Kenji's sarcasm in this was hilarious but also I was so happy to see the friendship between him and Aaron becoming a thing. Ugh I keep switching between his first and last name oops.
I couldn't believe how happy Juliette was, like, she's been through some absolute horror and yet she still planned a surprise wedding? She is so sweet and pure oh my goodnesssss.
Ok so I think I'm probably the only one to experience this, but since the book was called Believe Me I kept getting The Sun Always Shines On TV stuck in my head. Like it's stuck in my head right now. I'm probably the only person who's experiencing that though.
Even though I finished the Shatter Me series last year, it was still really nice to return to the characters and world. I was both surprised and proud of myself for remembering so much of the stuff that happened, as well as who all the characters were.
So, yeah. I think I need a moment to gather my thoughts. So I'm gonna leave this review here and probably go be sad and miss this series. Goodnight, and thank you.

*This age recommendation is only my opinion. Some younger people might feel comfortable reading this book, and some older people might not. That's fine, either way. Warning for swearing, sexual references and themes, a bit of gore, and flashbacks of traumatising events.
