Ok so honestly it took me a very long time to read this book because I read it on my phone. But I ultimately think I did enjoy it. I started reading this series because of my Greek mythology phase and also because I felt like I was missing out. The Rick Riordan fandom is everywhere. EVERYWHERE. I wanna be in on it too!
Rick Riordan is such a good author because he teaches his readers so much about mythology and stuff while keeping it really lighthearted. As much as I enjoy my Cannibalism-Incest-Murder Adult Greek Mythology Books, I think that Rick Riordan's books are also really informative as well as hilarious and mostly lighthearted.
I read the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series in 2019, and this book was really cool in the way that it linked up with that series. It was so nostalgic hahaha.
The ending of this book was super cool too, and I really want to read the next book but ALAS it is unavailable at the library. I can't even reserve it! Outrageous. I'm really curious as to what will happen next but I can't access the next book noooo.
It was also really cool reading this book as a person who has read quite a bit about Greek mythology. I felt so cool, laughing at the inside jokes, and figuring out who characters were before the main characters did. I'm very proud of myself.
Ok so I spent the entire book thinking that Jason had brown hair or black hair -- just dark hair. But in like one of the last chapters it said he was blond?! No. I don't see that. Thanks.
Ok but does anyone else sometimes find it hard to read books aimed at a younger audience than you? I think that was the main reason I read this so slowly. It was good, but sometimes the simpler language made me lose interest a bit. But it was still good! I'm really excited to read the next book.
The Lost Hero by Rick Riordan, 11+* ★★★
*This age recommendation is only my opinion. Some younger people might feel comfortable reading this book, and some older people might not. That's fine, either way. Warning for medium-level violence and potentially upsetting themes.
