Wayward Son - Book Review

This review contains spoilers for Carry On and Wayward Son.
Agrfuiahefiavd. Ok so you know how much I liked the first book in this trilogy. This one was pretty good too! I made the huge mistake of trying to drag the book out, though, because I didn't have the third book (and still don't, but it's on its way, my grandma ordered it for me which is so sweet of her but also ahh the gay).
Ok, I feel terrible saying this, but it was sort of kinda clear when reading this that an American author was writing about British people traveling to the US. But it was in a good way, you know? It was funny, and since I am neither American nor British I could definitely laugh at it. It was kinda cheesy but I say that in an endearing way.
I honestly think I liked the first book better. Again, I also think I made a huge mistake with the fact that I stopped reading it for a few days to try and savour it. I regret everything. 😭
I'm sorry, I'm ranting about my relationship dramas. I don't have relationship dramas with people, I have them with books.
So I really like the characters in this series, and it was nice to see more of them. Also I couldn't mention SIMON + BAZ in my review for Carry On, but OH MY GOSH. I ship them so much aaaah. For some reason my brain keeps telling me that their ship name should be "Snazzle" which makes not much sense but also does because Snow and Basil? I dunno. But I was freaking out when they were questioning their relationship because I want them to be together forever (and never to part). I want to see more Snazzle in the third book.
Also all the vampire stuff was interesting. Lamb was hmmmm... I never liked him. And that betrayal at the end was a plot twist. That sucked. Hahahahaha I just accidentally made a pun. There were a couple times in the book when someone was like "bloody vampires!" and I just laughed.
The NowNext vampire people are really creepy and now I won't be able to see extremely healthy lifestyle people in the same way. That Braden guy was seriously disturbing. I felt bad for Ginger though, she was so clueless, which probably was a good thing in her situation, but still.
Also I have no idea how to feel about Shepard. He's so extroverted it freaks me out. He seems nice, but he also seems like the kind of character who accidentally causes trouble. And he's also cursed. Wow.
So yeah, this book was pretty good but my stupid reading agenda messed it up for me. It was just the right amount of silly. Baz and Penny actually have a great sense of humour. It was nice to see them getting closer in this book. I think they're actually quite similar people in a way, and I like their friendship.

Wayward Son by Rainbow Rowell, 13+* ★.5

*This age recommendation is only my opinion. Some younger people might feel comfortable reading this book, and some older people might not. That's fine, either way. Warning for medium-level violence, gore, sexual references, weird kissing stuff, lots of swearing, and potentially upsetting themes.
