Friday Barnes: No Escape - Book Review

Oh man, this book unlocked so many memories from primary school. I bought this book because I used to really like the Friday Barnes series when I was younger, and I read it just now to fill in the time until the next book in another series I'm reading arrived in the mail. Let me tell you, these books are still really good even though I'm older now. I was very surprised that most of my friends hadn't heard of Friday Barnes though, I thought the books were super popular? I used to read No Rules a lot, because it was the only one from the series that I owned also because I really liked it. I still remember like ¾ of that book very well.
I remember that at the end of the last book, Never Fear, my friends said it was the last book of the series ever and I was very disappointed because the ending wasn't spectacular... they were just like "bye" and then the series was (apparently) over. But luckily the series is not over haha. I actually want to read the next book because the ending of this one was a bit of a cliffhanger.
The way these books are written are so good though. It is so fun to see all the mysteries being solved in Friday Barnes and the banter between the characters is so funny. Although I did kinda figure out what the plot twist at the end was going to be when I was less than halfway through the book, it didn't make the rest of the book any less engaging or exciting to read. And also I know the books are aimed at younger people than me, so I'm not complaining that I figured out what would happen.
These books are so funny though, my favourite moment was when Melanie was like, "Oh dear, that story will break Friday's heart..... she loves books, she hates hearing about harm coming to them." which is very confusing without context but I promise it was very funny if you were there.
That teacher, Ms Cannon, was really creepy though. I don't know if she was meant to be funny but the things she did/said were very disturbing sometimes.
Also I only just realised that R.A. Spratt is Australian. Does that mean that Friday is Australian? Some of the stuff in the book was giving off Aussie vibes haha.
So yeah in conclusion I really liked this book and I would recommend it. The Friday Barnes books are very easy to read, very funny and also very clever. Primary school me would be very happy.

*This age recommendation is only my opinion. Some younger people might feel comfortable reading this book, and some older people might not. That's fine, either way. Warning for weird kissing stuff.
