Girl, Serpent, Thorn - Book Review

This book had been sitting unread on my shelf for a while... but I've read it now.
So as you may know I like mythology and stuff so I was very excited to read this book since it's based on Persian mythology. Yay.
The concept of the book was really cool!! I liked the magic stuff and Soraya's situation at the beginning of the book really reminded me of Frozen hahahaha.
The beginning and end of the book were very good however I felt like there was a bit of a gap in the middle where I wasn't finding the story engaging. Maybe it was just because I was tired or had other things on my mind though. But I did take quite a while to read this book because the middle was a little meh. But I really did like the ending of the book -- like maybe the last 5 - 10 chapters were very interesting.
I think the author did write the characters pretty well. It's usually a good sign when you can't tell how you feel about characters, because it means that the characters are written vividly and uniquely. I even didn't know how I felt about the main character, because she did some pretty questionable stuff. Hmmmm.
Girl, Serpent, Thorn had quite a nice writing style. It was poetic and just gave mythology vibes... which makes no sense.
Before I read this book I had heard that it had some amazing wlw rep. While I wouldn't call the rep "amazing", I can agree that it was pretty cool. I think the love interest was probably my favourite character. The relationship between her and the main character was written pretty well, in a gentle and intimate way. I approve.
Oh! And this book was one of the books where suddenly the title makes sense which is always satisfying. That part of the book was probably my favourite.
In conclusion, I'm very sorry that this review is crappy. I feel pretty nauseous and I don't know whether it's because of the possibly-moldy cheese I ate, or because I Ate.

*This age recommendation is only my opinion. Some younger people might feel comfortable reading this book, and some older people might not. That's fine, either way. Warning for medium-level violence, low-level gore and kissing.
