Aaaah, nostalgia. I've made it my mission to keep reading this series, to continue on from my childhood.
As you probably know, I am a big fan of Norway and it was so cool to have Norway as the setting for most of this book!! It was also cool because when characters spoke Norwegian I could understand some of it!! Not the insults in Norwegian though. Duolingo hasn't taught me that.
However, I don't think that this book was quite the same as its predecessors. I would say that there were lots and lots of little mysteries solved in the previous books (about one per chapter) plus a big overarching mystery that Friday solved. I really liked that in the earlier books. I believe that there were less "little mysteries" in Undercover -- it was mainly one big mystery. I found that this meant the book wasn't as engaging as the others. But it was still good!
I also kinda missed the Friday-Ian shenanigans in this book. Sure, there was still some banter, but not as much as in other books. R.A. Spratt is usually really funny in her writing but I guess this book seemed a bit more dry than the others.
That's ok though because the nostalgia made up for it!!!
